Introductory Sequence

The county of Chelthin has long been somewhat neglected by the crown, lacking the population or resources to truly warrant royal attention. For years the land has been governed by a childless Earl, named Halder, and as he has grown older the land has become more and more lawless. An ambitious tavern keeper, named Sal, has tired of the county’s long decline into obscurity and has hired you to investigate into a local ruin that has been causing particular trouble for the area. Little is known about the structures original purposes and many feel it is haunted. Although this may be local legend, it is certain that a tribe of goblins has taken up residence in the structure and that they have been raiding nearby villages.

Sal has agreed to pay you each fifty gold pieces in order that you investigate. He also guarantees that if you can stop these raids for good and end the evil of the ruin, the Earl himself will handsomely reward you. Two others have been hired for the same purpose, a lively gnome bard named Hammy and JAMIE’S CHARACTER. You have rested for the night in the woods and the structure is now only a short journey away.
